Ashton Babcock
Ashton Julie Shepherd-Babcock, currently a senior and in her third year of Advanced Publications, is the editor of HiSpots Online. During her free time, she listens to music and doesn’t notice people trying to get her attention, looks for Liz Claiborne clothes at thrift stores, and writes tragedies. Her favorite spices are curry powder and cumin, but she does like oregano, even though it is not allowed on school grounds (See 2011-2012 Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook). Other interests include architecture, berries, theatre, beekeeping, vocal harmony, and any activity that requires the use of a sharpened pencil and plain white paper. She would like to live her adult life somewhere secluded, serving loose leaf tea to lone travelers and writing romance novels under a pen name. Katie Gentry
Katie Gentry is a senior and the executive editor of Advanced Publications. She is also involved in STUD, FBLA, Young Life, and National Honor Society, among other things. She is working on trying to earn her International Baccalaureate diploma. Other interests include coaching volleyball, hanging out with friends, going to the beach, volunteering, and skiing. Jack Turzillo
Jack Turzillo is an aspiring movie critic, screenwriter, and director. In his free time, he watches films. Among his favorites are “2001: A Space Odyssey”, “Inception”, “Fight Club”, “Memento”, and “Requiem for a Dream”. When Jack isn’t watching films, he is reviewing them. Perhaps surprisingly, he despises most television programs. In addition to film, Jack is passionate about education, politics, and creative writing. On any given day, one might find Jack watching a film, reading a non-fiction article or book, running, thinking, doing homework, or watching paint dry. Teddi Faller is currently a senior and in her third year of Advanced Publications as a staff writer. In school she is an IB student and runs cross country and track. For leisure activities she enjoys reading James Patterson and Meg Cabot novels. In college she wishes to accomplish a dual major of Communication Studies and Computer Science. Her dream is to live in La Jolla, California, working as an FBI agent and writing novels. She has three pugs, loves the color pink, the movie “Scarface”, and candy corn.

Sophie Peterson
Sophie Peterson is a sophomore at Tigard High School, and this is her first year on the staff. She enjoys reading, writing and arithmetic. In her spare time she likes getting together with friends, playing the piano and reading like 90 books a week. Ryan Smidt
Ryan Smidt, who is a senior, is the Design Editor for Yearbook and is in his second year of Publications. He is treasurer of German Klub, ANHS, Animal Rights Club, and Asian Club. He is also the ASB Tech Officer in Leadership. He plays water polo and is on the Swim Team. When Ryan has nothing to do he likes to read, design buildings, and party. He loves listening to music and his favorite artists are Adele and Muse. Ryan loves to travel. He was born in South Africa and lived in New Zealand for 4 years. If he could live anywhere he would live in Dubai. He hopes to one day be a Plastic Surgeon.

Lindsay Gill, a Junior at Tigard High School, is a writer and designer for Advanced Publications. Other interests include: swimming, water polo, reading, and listening to oldies music. She works at the Tigard Swim Center as a swim instructor and lifeguard. The number one thing she wants to do before she dies is sky dive in Greece. Patrick Yassa, a junior at Tigard High School, is in his first year of Publications. Other interests include basketball, water polo, watching movies, and listening to rap music. He is in his third year playing Tigard Water Polo and is now on Varsity. During his free time he likes hanging out in Portland, eating, and spending time with his friends. His favorite food is anything barbequed, especially chicken. If he could have any talent he would want to be able to sing well. He still tries to sing, but it never sounds too good. He has a golden retriever named Maggy and a big black cat named Snoop Catt. He likes to work with children and wants to be a Child Psychologist when he grows up.

Nancy Mayer
Nancy Lofgren Mayer works as the adviser for Tigard High School’s publications program, which includes HiSpots Online, the HiSpots news magazine and the Tiger Yearbook. In addition, she teaches Journalism, Language Arts, photography and reading. Outside of work, she loves to entertain, read, swim, hike, and garden. She also works as a free-lance photographer and writer.

Brett Higgins
Brett Higgins, currently a senior and in her third year of Advanced Publications, is the copy editor for both HiSpots and Yearbook. Activities and interests outside of school involve water polo, swimming, drawing, taking long walks on the beach, gazing up at the stars, and running over small animals while driving to work/school. Whenever she finds free time away from her job she enjoys hanging out with friends, cliff jumping, playing sports, and making sand sculptures of mermaids. Some of her favorite things are chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, the smell of rain, walking barefoot, and demotivational posters. She sometimes thinks she is a 34 year old woman stuck in a 17 year old’s body, yet she is still trying to live life to the fullest.

Anna Roberts is presently a sophomore at Tigard High School. This is her second year as a writer in Advanced Publications. Kyla Smart, who is currently a sophomore at Tigard High School, is a photographer for Advanced Publications. She also enjoys playing soccer for the school’s varsity team, and in her free time she likes to run and spend time with friends outdoors. Madi Eaton is currently a sophomore at Tigard High School and photographer for THS Publications. Activities that she enjoys include school soccer and lacrosse; she participated in the school varsity lacrosse team and plans to continue this year. Ashley Schroeder
Ashley Schroeder is a Junior at Tigard high school. She is an active member and photo editor of the THS publications program. Although this sweet sassy chick has a full schedule with running photos for the newspaper and yearbook she enjoys the musical arts such as playing piano, guitar, and using her vocals! This year will be her second year running her own business that she started at the age of just 14! She enjoys volunteering her time to help others. In fact just this last summer was her third mission trip to Tijuana to help sick orphans and less fortunate families. She did two years of varsity cheer and lives everyday with an optimistic attitude; Ashley is a lighthearted caring girl who can always brighten your day.
